What the LGBTQIA+?
Sometimes, we are just not sure where to start with LGBT+ inclusion, but Inclusive environments ensure that no matter their family makeup, or their own gender or sexuality, we all feel supported and a welcome part of society. The Welsh Government have made a commitment to become the most LGBTQ+ friendly nation in Europe and schools, businesses and charities have a key part in this goal. Combined with the increase in society's awareness about gender and sexuality, all organisations are facing new challenges.

In order to enable your organisation to ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging and community, our 'What the LGBTQIA+?' package helps you understand where you are in your inclusion journey, what you need to do and how to do it.

A combination of training and mentoring, this programme will:
-
Raise awareness of the nine protected characteristics and the challenges that these groups face in education settings
-
Explain the meaning of gender and sexuality terminology
-
Explores bias and how this can be avoided
-
Provide a step in the journey to improve the diversity of school curricula
-
Act as a first step in applying for an accredited diversity award
-
Allow you to easily identify improvement targets and identify measurable targets for your organisation

For secondary schools, additional support is available for developing pupil diversity groups and specific support for emerging gender and sexuality matters.
